For fuel distribution, compartment count is not a styling choice. It changes how a trailer earns money over a route, how much product can be delivered without contamination risk, and how often the operator has to compromise between payload and delivery accuracy. A 4 compartment semi trailer usually becomes the right answer when one trip needs to cover more than one fuel grade, more than one customer drop, or more than one delivery pattern in the same operating day.
That is why this configuration shows up so often in regional fuel supply work. A distributor may leave a depot with diesel, petrol, and a smaller volume reserved for a station with lower turnover, or split diesel into separate drops for mining support, fleet yards, and retail forecourts on the same route. In those cases, a single large tank without internal separation creates operational friction. The truck can carry volume, but not route flexibility. Another misjudgment is assuming that more compartments always mean slower handling. They can, if the discharge system and loading routine are poorly organized. Capacity, compartment count, and legal road loading have to be looked at together, not in isolation.
